Goddess Katyayani, worshipped on the sixth day of Navaratri, was born to put an end to the evil spirits and was conceived as a warrior. She vanquished the demon Mahishasura and there are many beautiful hymns sung to her power (including my favourite, the mahishasura mardini strotam which I put on my link tree)..She is associated with the colour red, and with Goddess Parvati, as the primordial form of Shakti or cosmic energy.
On day 8 of navaratri, I think of beautiful Maa Mahagauri, one of the peace goddesses. She is auspicious, brilliant and protects the good people. Mother Gauri enlightens the spiritual seeker and removes the fear of rebirth..ॐ देवी महागौर्यै नमः॥Om Devi Mahagauryai Namah॥
