I don’t know if it is because I am reading them in Spanish and the mother tongue soothes me, or these books are very good, but I feel I am devouring the Elena Blanco series. La Nena is particularly good because the characters are developing. They are not the slight clichés they were in La Novia GitanaI particularly appreciate how every novel, every story, leaves an impact in the characters and how the writers (yes, for Carmen Mola turned out to be three men) are merciless when it comes to plot. If a main character needs to be killed, it is killed. I think la Nena herself, which is quite a mysterious character and plot line, will appear in the next novel.

The aspects I was not sure of is the continuous flirting within the unit (don’t these people have lives?) and the new character, Reyes, and her gender fluid identity. that part felt like educating. The baddy, Julio, was also a little too evil for his own story, but the drama was dark enough so I am glad there was not more darkness.
