Our man in Havana by Graham Greene ***
Reading dates: 24 November – 12 December 2024
I enjoyed reading Graham Greene more than I thought. This unreliable spy novel is very well pitched, with hints of the supernatural but no plot bravado. I really enjoyed all the main characters (the real ones and the invented) and the feeling of the cities of Havana and Santiago, which I have visited. Greene was both observant and accurate, I think. I read the book while in Goa, India, and I enjoyed experiencing a different type of heat.
