The Adventures of Arsène Lupin, Gentleman-Thief by Maurice Leblanc***

Reading Arsène Lupin again was like going back to my childhood days and to my early discoveries of crime fiction. I enjoyed the stories (although it took me a couple to get back to them) but this time I found the references to Sherlock Holmes a little grating. Still, the thieving angle was rather charming as was the Frenchness, and the selection of stories, all a little linked with each other. Not as satisfying as Conan Doyle’s sleuth, but Lupin still provides a lot of reading pleasure.
