Standing Stones

Standing Stones
From Tom Pritchard‘s website:

17th-21st June 2013
At the Briggait, Glasgow

Over 5 days I workshopped with 7 participants from a wide variety of backgrounds around the theme of ‘Seeing and Being Seen’. This professional development week was inspired by regular OTSOTP collaborator Victoria Evans’ solo exhibition Standing Stones.

During the week we explored my multidisciplinary improvisation practice as a relevant approach to responding to visual stimuli. I began the week by proposing three guiding questions:
How can we embody / physicalise visual inspiration as a tool for inspired creation?
How can we bring a canvas to life and dance our subconscious reaction to it?
How can we discover a more fluid dialogue between art forms, so we may move easily between forms at will?

The participants were:
Suzi Cunningham, Cath Giles, Laura Gonzalez, Sita Pieraccini, Miranda Sheehy, Patricia Verity Suarez and Aby Watson.

It was such a joy to spend this time to deepen the practice and work towards a specific outcome with such a beautiful group of individuals. We drew, we danced, we spoke, we laughed.
Below are a series of artefacts of the week as well as participant feedback.

See www.victoriaevansartist.blogspot.co.uk/p/exhibitions for more information on Victoria’s work.

This workshop is made possible thanks to the generous support of Dance House, Conflux, Creative Scotland and On The Stage Of The Present.

I wrote about it here.

Victoria made a book of the exhibition and the performance.
