Solid but not spectacular thriller. I think I am less impressed because I am not reading them in order and many of the plot devices here are repeated later on (and from what I gather, also before). —SPOILER: How many of Harry’s partners have to die?— I love Harry as a character. I love Rakel, Harry’s relation to his bosses and Oslo in the winter. What I don’t like is the plot resolutions, usually. I enjoyed finding out about the Salvation Army, I think that was an excellent contextual situation for the crime, but Nesbø has many ingredients to make this novel stunning and he does not combine them in a way that brings the best out in them. I feel for poor Harry.
